The Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-8 is a compact desktop UV flatbed printer designed to make professional direct-to-object printing accessible to small businesses, retailers, educators, entrepreneurs, and businesses bringing product customization in-house.

With an 8.26 x 5.83 in (A5) printable area, the BD-8 prints full-color graphics, White ink, and specialty effects directly onto compatible products and three-dimensional objects up to 4 in thick. Its compact footprint makes it possible to add professional UV printing capability to a small shop, retail environment, classroom, office, studio, or other space where a larger production flatbed may not be practical.

Print personalized gifts, promotional products, awards, acrylics, phone cases, packaging, stationery, small signage, branded merchandise, décor, prototypes, and other customized products. Add the optional Rotary Rack to expand into compatible cylindrical objects, or use the BD-8 to produce UV DTF transfers for curved, irregular, and difficult-to-print products.

Designed with new operators in mind, the BD-8 combines intuitive Roland software, automated maintenance features, smartphone-assisted alignment, a full enclosure, and built-in fume extraction in one compact system.

For businesses entering professional UV printing without immediately requiring a larger production bed, the BD-8 provides an accessible starting point with the reliability, print quality, software, support, and upgrade path of the Roland and LogoJET ecosystem.

LogoJET provides the BD-8 as part of a complete direct-to-object printing solution, with application guidance, operator training, custom tray and fixture expertise, technical support, and genuine Roland inks, consumables, and accessories.

Why Choose the Roland BD-8?

Print Directly on Products Up to 4 Inches Thick

Print on compatible rigid and three-dimensional objects up to 4 in (102 mm) thick and weighing up to 6.6 lb (3 kg).

The additional object clearance expands the types of products you can bring in-house, from acrylic blocks, plaques and packaging to promotional products, décor and other dimensional objects.

CMYK + White + Gloss or Primer

The BD-8 uses Roland ECO-UV5 (EUV5) 220 ml inks in CMYK + White with either Gloss or Primer, depending on the selected ink configuration.

CMYK produces vibrant full-color graphics, photographs, logos, text, and variable-data designs.

White provides opacity on clear, dark, and colored substrates and can be layered beneath CMYK to help colors stand out.

Gloss creates clear spot finishes, high-gloss or matte effects, textures, and dimensional details. Multiple layers of clear or white ink can also be used to create tactile effects.

Primer helps improve adhesion on compatible difficult-to-print substrates, including certain glass and metal applications.

Built-In Fume Extraction and Full Enclosure

The BD-8 combines a full-cover enclosure with built-in fume extraction, helping contain UV light and manage fumes generated during printing. The fume extraction system is integrated into the printer, eliminating the need for a separate secondary system in typical applications.

Roland ECO-UV5 inks are also GREENGUARD Gold certified, an important consideration for businesses, retail environments, offices, and educational settings where low chemical emissions are a priority.

UV DTF Transfer Capable

The BD-8 can also support UV DTF transfer production, extending customization to products that are curved, irregularly shaped, textured, or otherwise difficult to position directly on the flatbed.

This gives businesses two complementary workflows from one UV platform: print directly onto compatible objects or create transfers for products better suited to UV DTF application. Roland specifically identifies UV DTF capability as one of the BD-12's core selling points.

Optional Rotary Printing

Expand beyond flat products with the optional OA-RA-8 Rotary Accessory for compatible cylindrical objects.

The rotary option gives businesses another way to expand their product offering into bottles, drinkware, containers, and other compatible cylindrical products without purchasing a separate printer.

Why Buy Your Roland BD-8 from LogoJET?

A Path to Scale: Start with the compact BD-8 for smaller products and lower-volume production, then move into larger-bed and higher-production direct-to-object solutions as your business grows. Roland itself positions the BD-8 as the entry point and the BD-12 as the next step into everyday small-batch production.
