Transforming a Legacy Lab into an
Automated Powerhouse with LogoJET
Amanda Dominguez began her journey with Digital Pro Lab at just 17 years old. After working in nearly every area of the business, she and her partner, Ray Seabaugh, officially purchased the San Antonio-based lab in 2020 under the mentorship of the original owner, Phil Canter. Today, they lead a multi-million-dollar operation rooted in photographic tradition and powered by automation, innovation, and community impact.
Amanda drives business development, AI integration, strategic partnerships, and automation strategies, while Ray oversees operations, equipment implementation, and team training—all keys to bringing Amanda’s vision to life. Their company culture is collaborative and family-like, complete with their office mascot, Islay the dog.
Digital Pro Lab offers three core service areas: photo finishing using wet process with Noritsu printers and high-resolution inkjet printing with Epson and Canon equipment; film development, as the only in-house lab in San Antonio still processing film; and specialty products like metal, acrylic, and ceramic items. Previously handled via a sublimation process, these specialty products now represent approximately 30% of the business and today are largely produced using LogoJET UV direct-to-object printing.
“Specialty products make up about 30% of our total business, and 80% of that is now powered by LogoJET,” Amanda shared.
Before adopting LogoJET UV printing, Digital Pro Lab relied on a five-step sublimation process for creating products like metal prints, ornaments, tiles, and keychains. That method involved printing to sublimation paper, trimming prints, manually placing items into molds, secondary cooling or curing, and managing higher material and labor costs. The process often led to long turnaround times—sometimes up to three times longer than current methods—and demanded more inventory, additional equipment space, and struggled with color consistency due to heat transfer and substrate variability.
Since transitioning to LogoJET’s Inspira Series UVx90i printer, Digital Pro Lab has dramatically streamlined its production process. What previously required several manual steps and significant labor can now be accomplished with a digital print pass, reducing production time by up to 80% and lowering costs.
Amanda noted that although they haven’t completed a full cost analysis yet, the reduction in substrate costs alone has been huge. Even more exciting is the unlimited creative potential LogoJET has unlocked for their business.
“We can print on anything! We’ve printed on luggage, iPads, and even custom printed wood Texas shapes with magnet material on the back to create custom Texas-shaped magnets,” Amanda said.
Here’s a look at the measurable impact of moving from sublimation to LogoJET UV printing:
| Metric | Sublimation Method | LogoJET UV Printing |
| Job Turnaround | 2-3 days average | 80% reduction in production time |
| Labor Involvement | Manual, multi-step process | Streamlined digital print pass |
| Material Waste | Higher due to rework | Minimal waste |
| Production Flexibility | Limited | High - easily adapts to various substrates and products |
| Color Consistency | Inconsistent (heat shifts, substrate variability) | Accurate and repeatable color output |
| Cost per Product | ~2.5x higher | Reduced due to speed and repeatability |
“LogoJET helped us eliminate steps, reduce labor and material, and accelerate output—without sacrificing quality,” Amanda said.
Amanda emphasized the critical role of ONYX in their workflow. It enables automated, drag-and-drop-free photo printing and integrates seamlessly with their backend systems.
“ONYX is the most user-friendly RIP in our industry and essential for lights-out production.”
She also praised LogoJET’s CEO, Susan Cox, for her responsiveness and customer-centric approach. The LogoJET team provided consistent support from installation through scaling production, tailoring solutions to match Digital Pro Lab’s needs.
“Susan truly cares. She listens, takes feedback seriously, and works with us to develop solutions that meet our needs.”
Beyond business, Amanda serves as a board member of both Musical Bridges, a nonprofit that brings classical concerts to seniors and underserved communities while supporting music education in schools, and IPI (Independent Photo Imagers), where she contributes her industry expertise to help guide the future of the imaging community. Her leadership in these organizations reflects her values of service, innovation, and fostering connections.
Digital Pro Lab exemplifies the fusion of legacy craftsmanship and modern efficiency. With LogoJET and ONYX as trusted partners, Amanda and Ray continue to lead with vision, innovation, and purpose—turning creative ideas into vibrant reality, one custom print at a time.
